Trackunit alternative
The Trackunit Alternative That Also Monitors Your Power
Everything you expect from plant telematics — location, engine hours, fault codes and theft alerts read over CAN bus from diggers, dumpers and telehandlers. Plus battery, solar, fuel cell and 6-axis IMU data for the towers, generators and welfare units in the rest of your fleet.
One Neo 2 gateway. One TrackSyte® Portal. An open API for your own systems.

Plant telematics
Everything you expect from construction telematics
Neo 2 connects to the machine's CAN bus, including SAE J1939, and reads what the machine already knows. Diggers, dumpers, telehandlers, rollers and generators report into the same portal, whatever the manufacturer.
Location and geofences
Multi-constellation GNSS with Wi-Fi backup. See every machine on the map and get alerts when it leaves a site.
Engine hours and utilisation
Engine hours from J1939, or running detection from the IMU on older plant. Bill hire accurately and spot machines standing idle.
Machine health and fault codes
Engine speed, temperatures, fuel level and active fault codes where the machine broadcasts them, so you know if a fault needs a visit.
Theft and movement alerts
Movement out of hours, tilt and impact alerts, and a lithium backup battery that keeps reporting if the machine battery is cut.
Service on real hours
Service alerts based on actual engine hours, not calendar guesses, with history kept for every machine.
Open API
Take your data into your own hire, ERP or reporting systems through the TrackSyte REST API, MQTT and webhooks.

What TrackSyte adds for mixed and off-grid fleets
Most fleets are not just plant. CCTV towers, lighting towers, welfare units, generators and pumps run on batteries and solar, and that is where TrackSyte goes further.
Battery state of charge
Shunt and BMS-based state of charge, voltage, current and runtime, with alerts before a battery goes flat.
Solar and charging
Solar yield and charging from Victron equipment over VE.Direct, Bluetooth or a Cerbo GX on the network.
Fuel cells and generators
EFOY and Emmjen fuel cells, and generator controllers over RS485 / Modbus or CAN bus, alongside the batteries they charge.
6-axis IMU
Accelerometer and gyroscope for movement, tilt, rotation, shock and vibration — tower masts, lifting and impacts.
Built for low power
Draws as little as 0.013 W from a 9–30 V supply, so it can sit on a small battery or solar asset without draining it.
Any brand, any asset
Plant, towers, power, pumps and security systems in one portal, read over CAN bus, RS485 / Modbus, Bluetooth and digital inputs.

The hardware
One gateway for plant, power and everything in between
Neo 2 fits to a digger's CAN bus or a CCTV tower's battery system just the same. It is designed and built in Cornwall by the team behind the TrackSyte Portal.
- CAN 2.0A/B, CAN FD and SAE J1939
- RS485 / Modbus RTU, Ethernet, digital I/O
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
- GNSS: GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou
- 6-axis IMU (accelerometer and gyroscope)
- 4G LTE, LTE-M and NB-IoT
- 9–30 V DC, as low as 0.013 W
- Lithium backup battery, five-year SIM

Open data
Your data, in your systems
TrackSyte is open by design. Every reading in the Portal — machine hours, fault codes, location, battery and power data — is available through the TrackSyte REST API, so it can feed your hire system, ERP, maintenance software or BI dashboards.
For live streaming, customers can be given certificate-based access to the TrackSyte MQTT broker. Alerts can go out by email, webhook or Slack, and every report exports as CSV.

Already use Trackunit? Add TrackSyte where it matters
Switching is not all or nothing. Many fleets keep their existing plant telematics and add TrackSyte for the assets that live on batteries and solar — towers, welfare units, generators and security. The two systems run side by side; TrackSyte does not import Trackunit data today.
When you are ready to bring plant across too, Neo 2 fits to the machine's CAN bus and puts it in the same portal as everything else.
Trackunit alternative FAQs
- Is TrackSyte a Trackunit alternative?
- Yes. Neo 2 reads CAN bus and J1939 machine data from construction plant — location, engine hours, fault codes and movement alerts — and adds battery, solar, fuel cell and IMU data for towers, generators and welfare units, all in one portal.
- Can TrackSyte read data from diggers, dumpers and telehandlers?
- Yes. Neo 2 connects to the machine's CAN bus, including SAE J1939, and reads values such as engine hours, engine speed, temperatures, fuel level and active fault codes where the machine broadcasts them. Older plant without CAN bus can use the IMU for running hours.
- Does TrackSyte have an API?
- Yes. The TrackSyte REST API gives access to your data for your own systems. Customers can also be given certificate-based access to the TrackSyte MQTT broker, and alerts can be sent by webhook, email or Slack.
- Can I use TrackSyte and Trackunit together?
- Yes. Many fleets keep their plant telematics and add TrackSyte for off-grid power, towers and welfare equipment. The systems run side by side; TrackSyte does not import Trackunit data today.
- Is Neo 2 available in the United States?
- Yes. Neo 2 is FCC certified for use in the United States. Talk to us about coverage for your region.
- Is TrackSyte connected with Trackunit?
- No. TrackSyte is an independent product designed and built by Green Power Solutions in Cornwall. Trackunit is a trademark of its owner.
