Secure remote monitoring for hybrid and temporary power

TrackSyte® delivers secure remote asset monitoring for generators, hybrid packs, BESS, fuel cells and temporary power — the battery, fuel and link health that keep site power useful when nobody is on the trailer. One gateway. CAN, Modbus, Ethernet, LTE — into one monitoring stack, so exceptions reach TrackSyte® Portal before a silent genset or a flat hybrid pack becomes an overnight hire call-out.

This page is multi-vendor power-asset monitoring — Victron, EFOY, gensets and BESS where interfaces allow — not a single-controller cloud and not fleet-locator marketing. GNSS is fitted as standard on Neo 2 — a full-constellation GPS/GNSS receiver that can support tracking and GPS-related functions, alongside the gateway and Portal monitoring stack.

Hybrid generator and temporary power on site

Why temporary power still needs truck rolls

Silent gensets, flat batteries and unknown fuel or runtime still drive truck rolls across UK temporary power fleets. A hybrid trailer that stopped charging overnight, a hire generator that dropped offline, or a BESS compound that lost link health often only shows up when site power is already down — or when a client calls asking why the tower went dark. By then the visit cost is spent, and the fault may turn out to be a battery state, a SIM issue or a controller that needed attention hours earlier.

That pattern is expensive for hire desks and main contractors. Overnight call-outs, unused truck rolls and “is it still running?” checks eat margin on generators, hybrids and temporary power kits. Runtime and fuel unknowns also force conservative despatch: someone drives out because the office cannot tell whether the asset is healthy.

Remote visibility of power, battery and link health closes that gap without inventing BESS OEM brands or warranty claims TrackSyte has not approved. Secure remote asset monitoring for hybrid and temporary power is about knowing whether the power stack is alive before you assume the generator itself has failed.

What you can see and act on remotely

With TrackSyte® you see power, battery and connectivity health in Portal — the asset stack that keeps temporary power useful. Status and alerts surface so ops and hire desks can prioritise real faults: offline links, power anomalies and battery conditions that justify a visit, versus noise that can wait until morning.

Ops, hire desks and site managers share one view across scattered gensets and hybrid packs. That matters when the person who can top up fuel or check a BMS is not the person who first hears “power’s down.” Clear status reduces the chase between site, workshop and the client who expected overnight coverage.

That is the commercial point. Fewer unnecessary site visits means lower operating cost on temporary power fleets. See how that plays out in commercial impact, or run the numbers with the site visit calculator. How Neo 2 fits generators, hybrids and BESS

One gateway. CAN, Modbus, Ethernet, LTE — into one monitoring stack. For generators, hybrids and temporary power the interfaces that usually matter first are RS485 / Modbus, Ethernet and cellular IoT (LTE-M / NB-IoT) — plus 12V, Bluetooth, and honest support for Victron, BMS batteries and Smart Shunt where that kit is fitted.

TrackSyte Neo 2 is the multi-protocol gateway that brings those paths into one monitoring stack and on into Portal over MQTT / API. RS485 is fitted on Neo 2 — it is not a Hub-only story. See RS485 / Modbus, Ethernet and cellular IoT for the interface explainers.

Victron-friendly monitoring where fitted: Neo 2 works with Victron power systems, smart and lithium batteries with BMS, and can talk to Smart Shunt for battery monitoring — see Victron integration and hardware integrations. Where fuel-cell sites use EFOY, follow the EFOY integration. CAN applies when adjacent plant shares the compound; deep plant proof lives on construction equipment telematics.

GNSS is fitted as standard on Neo 2 — a full-constellation GPS/GNSS receiver that can support tracking and GPS-related functions. We do not invent fleet-locator marketing beyond confirmed Neo 2 positioning, Canvas naming, Offer prices or fake compliance seals on this page.

  • RS485 / Modbus connectivity (Neo 2 — fitted, not Hub-only)
  • Ethernet and LTE-M / NB-IoT backhaul (Neo 2)
  • 12V supply and Bluetooth for Victron / BMS / Smart Shunt conversations (Neo 2)
  • Victron integration path
  • EFOY fuel-cell integration path
  • GNSS fitted as standard — full-constellation GPS/GNSS that can support tracking and GPS-related functions

Typical setups

Hybrid tower or power trailer. A hybrid pack feeding a security tower or welfare trailer needs battery and link health more than another dashboard. Neo 2 backhauls Modbus/RS485, Ethernet or cellular status into Portal — Victron and Smart Shunt conversations where that kit is already on the trailer.

Standalone hire generator. Hire gensets move often and lose visibility in the process. Remote alerts on power and connectivity cut the “drive out to see if it’s running” loop before a client discovers a cold site.

BESS or solar-hybrid compound. Battery energy storage and solar-hybrid compounds need honest link and power-stack visibility. We describe monitoring of the supported interfaces — we do not invent BESS OEM brands or warranty claims on this page.

Fuel-cell site (EFOY). Where EFOY fuel-cell kits power remote sites, follow the EFOY integration alongside the Neo 2 gateway story into Portal.

Power plus CCTV tower compound. Many compounds mix temporary power with mobile security towers. Cross-link CCTV tower monitoring for the tower asset story; keep this page focused on the power stack under the same Portal. Wet-site siblings: pump and sump monitoring.

Security — physical site and cyber basics

Physical. Temporary power sits on compounds, towers and hire yards where power theft, tamper and overnight outages are real operational risks. Remote monitoring of power, battery and connectivity supports that physical job without replacing genset controllers or inventing compliance seals. Knowing the power stack is reachable is part of keeping the site honest — it is not a substitute for physical security design.

Cyber. Data paths into TrackSyte use authentication, TLS, certificates and MQTT. We describe those basics plainly; we do not invent ISO, SOC or other compliance badges. Secure remote asset monitoring here means controlled access to operational status — not a marketing seal you cannot verify.

FAQs

Does TrackSyte replace a generator controller?

No. TrackSyte® monitors hybrid generator and temporary power assets into the Portal. It does not replace manufacturer generator controllers or invent predictive maintenance claims.

Do you only work with one genset controller brand?

No. Neo 2 and Portal support multi-vendor temporary and hybrid power stacks where interfaces allow — for example Victron, EFOY and gensets — rather than locking you to a single-controller cloud. We map the interfaces that are actually present; we do not invent controller lists or OEM badges.

How is this different from DSEWebNet?

DSEWebNet is strong for DSE-controller estates. TrackSyte is for mixed power plus security/site assets in one monitoring stack when the site is not DSE-only — Victron, EFOY, gensets and BESS alongside towers or other loads where interfaces allow. We do not claim a DSE partnership, DSE certification or “DSE alternative” positioning.

How do Victron and EFOY fit?

Neo 2 works with Victron, smart/lithium BMS and Smart Shunt where that kit is on site, and TrackSyte has a dedicated EFOY integration for fuel-cell monitoring. See /integrations/victron and /integrations/efoy — we do not invent certification seals here.

Does Neo 2 include GPS / GNSS?

Yes. GNSS is fitted as standard on Neo 2: a full-constellation receiver that can support tracking and GPS-related functions, alongside the gateway and Portal monitoring stack.

Is RS485 available on Neo 2 for power sites?

Yes. RS485 is fitted on Neo 2 — not Hub-only — alongside Modbus, Ethernet, LTE-M / NB-IoT, 12V supply and Bluetooth. See /capabilities/rs485-modbus.

Does this cover both hybrid generators and temporary / welfare power?

Yes. This single sector lander covers generators, hybrid packs, BESS, fuel cells and temporary power on welfare units, compounds and off-grid sites — one Portal path, with Victron and EFOY linked where relevant.
